西华大学外国语学院翻译专业创立于2016年，2021年被评为省级“一流专业”。经过近十年的持续建设与发展，现已成为西南地区具有一定影响力的翻译人才培养基地。专业依托学校综合性大学背景和外国语学院深厚的学术积淀，形成“本硕贯通”培养体系，以培养“复合应用型+创新型”翻译人才为目标。
翻译专业拥有一支学术水平高、教学经验丰富的师资队伍，目前有专职教师30余人，教授、副教授14人，18人具有博士学位。多位教师具有海外留学或访学经历，教学科研能力突出，曾承担多个国家级、省部级翻译研究课题，发表多篇高水平SSCI、CSSCI检索论文。
翻译专业坚持“理论与实践并重”的人才培养理念，注重学生翻译实践能力的培养，形成了以“口笔译工作坊”为核心的实践教学体系。专业与多个政府机构、企业单位、翻译公司建立了密切合作关系，为学生提供丰富的实习与就业机会。
翻译专业将依托“语言学+人工智能”交叉学科优势，聚焦“科技翻译”与“国际传播”两大方向，引入CAT（计算机辅助翻译）、大语言模型等数字化工具，开设一带一路文化外译、交替传译、机器翻译与译后编辑、法律翻译、影视本地化与字幕翻译、跨文化传播策略、跨境电商本地化等特色课程。此外，专业还定期邀请国内外翻译领域知名专家学者来校讲学，拓宽学生的国际视野。
近年来，翻译专业学生的深造率和就业率保持较高水平，深造率超过22%，学生多被国内外知名高校录取攻读硕士研究生。就业率持续稳定在90%以上，毕业生广泛就业于政府部门、外事机构、跨国公司、教育培训、旅游管理等领域，深受用人单位认可。
The Translation & Interpreting Major at the School of Foreign Languages and Cultures, Xihua University, established in 2016, was recognized as a provincial first-class undergraduate program in 2021. Through nearly a decade of continuous development, it has evolved into an influential training base in Southwest China. Leveraging the comprehensive academic background of the university and the strong scholarly heritage of the School of Foreign Languages and Cultures, the program has developed an integrated undergraduate-postgraduate training system, aiming to cultivate translation professionals who are both interdisciplinary and innovative.
The faculty is highly experienced and qualified, with over 30 full-time teachers, including 14 professors and associate professors, and 18 Ph.Ds. Many faculty members have overseas educational or visiting experiences and have led national and provincial translation research projects, as well as numerous high-quality publications indexed in SSCI and CSSCI, highlighting their strong teaching and research capabilities.
Emphasizing both theory and practice, the Translation & Interpreting Major is committed to enhancing students’ practical translation & interpretation skills through an integrated teaching approach centered on “Interpretation and Translation Workshops.” What’s more, the major maintains strong partnerships with government agencies, enterprises, and translation companies, offering students extensive internship and employment opportunities.
Relying on interdisciplinary strengths in Linguistics + Artificial Intelligence, the program will focus on Technical Translation and International Communication. It will integrate digital tools like CAT software and Large Language Model(LLM), offering specialized courses such as Belt and Road Cultural Translation, Consecutive Interpreting, Machine Translation & Post-Editing, Legal Translation, Film Localization & Subtitling, Cross-Cultural Communication Strategies, and E-commerce Localization. Additionally, renowned domestic and international translation experts regularly give lectures at the school, broadening students’ global perspectives.
In recent years, the program has maintained an impressive rate of postgraduate studies, with over 22% of graduates admitted to prestigious universities worldwide. The employment rate remains consistently above 90%, with graduates successfully entering careers in government sectors, international affairs, multinational corporations, education, publishing and media, and tourism management, earning widespread acclaim from employers.
